Of course, we know the man as the face of the “Fast & Furious” franchise along with his late friend, Paul Walker. But did you know that Vin Diesel is also into voice acting?
Sure, you may have probably figured this out since it’s already common knowledge that Vin voiced the extraterrestrial tree monster, Groot in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, especially to the younger generations who loved watching Marvel movies. But little do we know that this was not the first he lent his voice in movies because he also lent his voice to the 1999 sci-fi film “The Iron Giant” – Yes, he was the titular character in that film.
GOT – IKEA Connection
The hit drama series, Game of Thrones did manage to captivate the hearts and minds of most viewers today. And apart from the scenic locations, we can’t help admire the costumes of all the casts like what Jon Snow (Kit Harington) wore in the Night Watch scenes.
It turns out these Night Watch capes were actually bought from IKEA. To be specific, these furs are made from rugs that cost $250 which were shaved and dyed. Now that’s brilliant!
The Late Conception Of The Movie “The Bodyguard”
“The Bodyguard” is forever etched in pop culture history as one of the top-grossing movies in the ‘90s. And thanks to this film, the careers of actor Kevin Costner and singer Whitney Houston were taken to new heights.
But it was reported that this movie was not originally meant for these 2 celebrity giants, but for other pair of entertainment greats, namely Diana Ross and Steve McQueen. It just so happened that their version didn’t push through because neither Diana nor Steve was willing to take the second-billing in their movie.
Using Real Organs As Props
Some of us may have felt awful while watching surgery scenes in some episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy”. And the way actors handle operations certainly looks real. That’s because the organs used in these scenes are real cow organs. In fact, these are the only real things in the set and the rest are just props.
As for the close-up shots while operating these organs, it was made to look real thanks to the hands of real surgeons.
Labeling The Wrong Shoes As “Banned”
Nike’s ‘Air Jordan’ line of shoes is often considered as the game-changer in the way most people see sneakers today. And while the black/red Air Jordan 1 is often considered the shoes that were banned by the NBA for not conforming to the league’s uniform rule, it was actually a different kind of shoe.
Sure “His Airness”, Michael Jordan did wear a pair of ‘bred’ J1’s in some of his games during his rookie, but the kicks that were banned were actually the Nike Air Ship, which is another shoe model from Nike.
It just happened that the Air Jordan line became more popular than this shoe. That’s why most people and even some sneakerheads never really knew about this fact until now.
Wearing Flashy Dress To Cover The Big Bump
We all saw Madonna’s music video entitled “Music”. And her dress was considered as one of the iconic looks that the Queen of Pop pulled off. In the video, you will notice her wearing a white furry coat with a cowboy hat. And the reason behind this is Madonna was actually pregnant with her son, Rocco, during the filming of this video.
Jonas Akerlund, the director of the video, though it was okay that Madonna would appear with her baby bumps showing off. But apparently, it was. And the rest is history.
The Fresh Prince’s Jordan 5
Will Smith, long before he became famous for his roles in “Bad Boys” as Mike Lowrey, “Independence Day” as Capt. Steven Hiller, and “Men In Black” as Agent J, he starred in the 90’s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” as himself. And his character was a sneakerhead.
One of the famous shoes that he wore was the Air Jordan 5 ‘Grape’. And what makes his pair special from other Grape 5’s is he wore those kicks without laces. His looks became so famous that it became a trend.
And 22 years later, the Air Jordan brand commemorated Smith’s contribution to the sneaker culture by releasing the Air Jordan 5 Retro NRG “Fresh Prince” on September 25, 2018.
So Much Dispute For A Simple Auto-Tune
Cher already made her name long before her song “Believe” became a hit. But did you know that her record label didn’t like certain parts of this song, particularly the auto-tune?
Apparently, her record label told Cher to remove this part, but she refused vehemently and even chose to release the rough mix version of the song. She even told the co-writer and producer that she would rip their throat if they dare touch it.
Dolly Parton Producing Buffy And Angel
Talk about a killer crossover, now this one is surely surprising. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”, the TV series that made Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz were secretly produced by Sandollar Entertainment, a company that was co-founded by Sandy Gallin and the country music legend, Dolly Parton.
And perhaps this was even hinted in the series as Buffy and Dolly have the same birthday (January 19).
Samuel Jackson’s Version Of Nick Fury
Now this may be a bit of a bomb to most people, but some die-hard Marvel comic book fans already know this.
When someone mentions the name “Nick Fury” we immediately think of the versatile actor, Samuel L. Jackson. In fact, Marvel even admitted that the character was tailored after the multi-awarded actor.
But the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was originally portrayed as a White-American character when he first appeared in May 1963. The Samuel L. Jackson’s version of Nick Fury that we know today is actually an alternate universe rendition of the character from the Ultimate Marvel comic series.
