A Light Switch-Flush Toilet-Bathtub-Washing Machine Thanksgiving

What do these items have to do with Thanksgiving? Plenty.

Having 4 kids within a 5 yr. span, I spent my share of nocturnal hours in the smallest room of our house (you can fill in the blank). When I heard the "sick" voice, or felt someone tapping me out of my dream, whatever the ailment (or urgency thereof), my mission was this:

1. Remove child to nearest washable surface (the aforementioned room)
2. Run water in tub (if necessary)
3. Prop kid up while I run for clean pajamas
4. Get them out of tub before they (or I) fall asleep
5. Get them back into bed or make bed on floor
6. Proceeds go to washing machine

I couldn't imagine fussing with candles, heating water over a stove, or running to the outhouse on a dark and stormy night, though I know it's been done (and they lived to tell about it).

The Lord has given me so many things, beginning with my salvation. I thank Him daily for all His benefits to me. But, although they might not sound terribly spiritual, some nights it's the little things that get the rave reviews.
