I was driving through a foggy stretch on a hilly country road.  Up the hill—no fog.  Down the hill—fog.  Up the hill—no fog; down the hill—fog.  Up above I could see blue sky with smears of pink.  How like the Lord, I thought chirpily, to always keep the sun visible as we go through foggy times in our lives (Wow, Marilyn—what a thought!).

Then I crossed through an intersection and now was driving through a mountainous area.  Suddenly, I was in a tunnel of fog.  Even the rear-view mirror showed no sign of the blue sky.  After driving for a few minutes, my chirpy spirit had dampened.  That blue sky is still really there….isn’t it?  (Ah…not so easy to be positive now).  My journey eventually took me off the mountain and back to the main highway and blue sky.  As I drove into the sun and looked in my mirror, I could see the foggy hill behind me.

Some days we feel like you’re saved; God’s promises effortlessly flit through our minds.   Some days, we don’t feel saved at all.  God’s promises are still close by, but we may have to pry open the box, thrust in our hand, yank them out, and read them out loud.  Thankfully, our salvation is not based on feeling, but on God’s unchanging Word and work.  Fog or no fog, they are still there.

“For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”  2Cor.
